Adobe Air - Desktop Widgets & Applications for All
April 29th, 2008
Not the most well known of the Adobe product range and still in Beta, Adobe Air:
“is a cross-operating system runtime that allows web application developers to use their existing web development skills (HTML, Javascript, Adobe Flash®, Adobe Flex™, Ajax) to build and deploy rich Internet applications to the desktop.”
As usual Adobe have stepped forwards and made the world a better place by allowing anyone with web programming skills take them onto the desktop without needing to adapt or modify code for Macs, Windows or Linux.
With a fierce battle for the desktop between Google & Microsoft and more and more clients looking for desktop widgets to interact with their online applications, this will almost certainly open up the market to other existing and startup companies who will be fighting for a bit of users desktop real-estate.
Expect to see desktop versions of all the big online names such as Facebook, MySpace, Blogger… in the next few months.
